Tsampi Medical Institute, Tashkent was organized in 1972 and is the leading institute in the field of education “Pediatrics”. Over the 46-year period of its work, more than 29,500 highly qualified doctors have been trained.TSAMPI is a state higher educational institution that carries out educational activities to implement basic and professional educational programs of higher education, as well as educational, methodological, scientific activities in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The structure of the institute includes 39 departments. The teaching staff includes 516 employees, of which 76 are doctors of science and professors, 201 are candidates of science and associate professors.
The total number of students is 3915. Also, 40 citizens of the CIS and 45 citizens of non-CIS countries study at the institute. The institute trains highly qualified specialists in 28 master's degrees. The total number of masters is 456. Subspecialty specialists are trained through clinical residency in 27 areas. The main clinical base of the institute is the TSAMPI clinic with 325 beds, where highly qualified specialized medical care is provided. In addition, the clinical departments of the institute are based in the clinics of research institutes, scientific centers, scientific and practical medical centers and leading treatment and preventive institutions in Tashkent.
The teaching staff of the institute has created new generation textbooks for all blocks of disciplines in the “Pediatrics” direction.
The institute has an academic lyceum specialized in in-depth study of biology and chemistry, where more than 800 children study. Among the students of academic lyceums there are 14 winners of the International Mendeleev Olympiad, 3 winners of the International Olympiad in Biology, 4 winners of the Republican Olympiad in Chemistry, as well as 16 winners of international and republican sports competitions. As part of the “Health” Project, in 1999, at TSAMPI, a City Training and Medical Center was organized for the retraining of doctors from rural medical centers under the “General Practitioner” program. An educational and methodological SVP has been created at the GUVC, and during the period of the GUVC’s activities, more than 1000 SVP doctors from Tashkent, Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions have been retrained. The Institute provides practical methodological assistance and is working to strengthen the material and technical base in 25 transforming model SVPs in the Syrdarya region. By Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 239 dated June 3, 1998, the medical faculty of Karakalpak State University was reorganized into the Nukus branch of TSAMPI.
